Rising K-Pop act ATEEZ have announced a US run. The barely over a year old act has rocketed into the hearts of genre fans with slick choreography and earworm hooks. And that’s enough in this pop-loving world to justify an arena tour of the United States. The tour, dubbed THE FELLOWSHIP: MAP THE TREASURE, will kick off next April.
The 8-man group made up of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho will start at Newark’s Prudential Center. From there, they’ll head to the Wintrust Arena in Chicago and Atlanta’s Infinite Energy Center. The band will play two more shows, one at Dallas’ Grand Prarie and another at the Forum in Los Angeles. The latter marks the end of the tour on April 26.
ATEEZ’s Hongjoong credits their rapid rise to the very structure of K-pop. With large groups of performers all bringing different strengths, it gives the acts a flexibility to perform across genre that isn’t available to other pop groups.
“Although there are a lot of artists in the world, what sets K-pop apart in the music industry, is that there are a lot of members together in one group,” he told Metro. “They try to incorporate a lot of genres, such as Latin and hip-hop, so a lot of fans in the world love it, regardless of the genre of the music.”
