Belle & Sebastian Announces New Album, Tour
It’s been four years since Belle & Sebastian released their last album, Write About Now, and now it’s time for their return. The band is in Atlanta right this very minute recording their ninth album, and although details are scarce, we’re already excited. To go along with the new tunes, Belle & Sebastian has confirmed a number of festival appearances. They’ll start out in Vienna, AT at the Arena Widen Open Air Festival on June 19, and then travel through Germany for the Southside Festival (on June 20) and Hurricane Festival (on June 21). Other stops include the Best Kept Secret Festival in The Netherlands and Festival Porta Ferada in Spain. The only North American dates announced so far are two weekends in Austin, TX at the Austin City Limits Festival (on October 3 and October 10), but we’re sure that they’re soon to be revealed. For ticketing information, visit the band’s website.
Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1996, Belle & Sebastian took their name from French author Cecile Aubry’s French children’s book Belle et Sebastien, of course. Though they’re critical darlings, Belle & Sebastian’s music has achieved only limited commercial success. They’ve released eight studio albums, two compilation albums, and two live albums over their collective career.
