Big Hair, Smooth Beats: It’s Miguel’s Top Ten Songs
He’s got an interesting haircut, smooth vocals, and killer beats: it’s Miguel! Miguel got his start with a record deal from Jive in 2007—the very same label that helped launch Britney, Mandy, Backstreet, and more. His debut album, All I Want Is You, was released in 2010. Even though it was largely unpromoted by the label and didn’t sell that many copies upon its arrival onto the music scene, the album became a sleeper hit. Miguel’s second album, Kaleidoscope Dream hit charts in 2012 to much critical and fan acclaim. Good things come to those who wait, Miguel!
Miguel’s music stylings are, well, a little bit of everything. He cites musicians like Phil Collins, Donny Hathaway, Kanye West, and Freddie Mercury as influence on his sound, which can be described as a new wave R&B, thrown in with funk, rock, and electronic components. In a short time, Miguel has been nominated for a variety of awards, including Billboard Music Awards, Grammy Awards (with a win in 2013 for Best R&B Song for “Adorn”), American Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, and more.
