Come On, Rude Boy – Let’s Listen To The Top Ten Rihanna Songs
Rihanna (aka Robyn Fenty) burst onto the music scene in 2005 with her debut album, Music of the Sun. Born in Barbados, Rihanna moved to the US at 16 to try her hand at a singing career, and boy, did she connect with the right people. Under the expert tutelage of none other than rapper/mogul/king of the world Jay-Z, RiRi has generated hit after hit, including international crazy-successful singles, “Umbrella”, “Don’t Stop The Music”, “Take A Bow”, “Disturbia”, and “Only Girl In The World”. In just eight short years, Rihanna has amassed seven Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, 22 Billboard Music Awards, and two BRIT awards. Not bad for someone only halfway to thirty. She’s also sold over 100 million records worldwide.
Rihanna’s stardom is, of course, not without controversy. Everyone knows about her 2009 incident with her then-boyfriend Chris Brown, but in recent years, Rihanna has shown up increasingly late to her own concerts, angering the masses of fans who have paid money to see her. And then of course, there’s her… interesting recreational behavior on Instagram. And her strange “777” promotional tour. Let’s hope RiRi gets her act together soon.
What’s in the future for our dear old Ri? To paraphrase her 2009 song, “Hard”, her reign doesn’t seem to be letting up.
