The woman responsible for giving new meaning to the word ‘quirk’ has quietly released a host of new tour dates, adding yet another leg to her ongoing Biophilia tour. This time around, Bjork will perform almost exclusively along the West Coast, making plans to settle into a California residency – where she’ll visit the Craneway Pavilion, Hollywood Palladium and Hollywood Bowl – from May 22 to June 11. Her only other American gigs are two major festivals: Bonnaroo in Tennessee on June 15 and Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL, on July 19. The busy singer/songwriter will also make a few July pitstops in Canada and Japan, before finishing out with a show in Germany this September.

For her stay in the Sunshine State this summer, Bjork has asked that the venues she plans to visit adhere to her particular design specifications. According to a press release, the Craneway Pavilion and Hollywood Palladium “have been set to her original Biophilia specifications as audio-visual shows in an intimate, in-the-round setting.” In other words, fans can expect a typically off-beat, and wonderfully communal, viewing experience from the Icelandic innovator.

Bjork, currently in the middle of a five night stand at Roseland Ballroom, will be on the bill for this year’s edition of Bonnaroo. The Icelandic singer-songwriter will be on the bill with acts such as Paul McCartney, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Mumford & Sons, Wu Tang Clan, R. Kelly and many, many others.

Set to take place June 13 through June 16 in Manchester, Tennessee, the festival consistently is regarded as one of the best music festivals each year, receiving awards from publications like GQ and Rolling Stone Magazine.

In addition to the over 15 million albums she has sold worldwide, the Icelandic singer-songwriter has been nominated for 14 Grammy awards, has won four MTV Video Music Awards, has won four Brit Awards, and even has won a Best Actress Award at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.

In recent years, she launched her “Biophilia” project, a multimedia project that combines music, apps, installations, and live shows. It is also the title of her eighth studio album. This past week, Bjork announced she would be taking her “Biophilia” project to Paris for four live shows in a circus tent sent up on an island on the Seine River, to take place February 21 through March 2. She will then follow that up with two shows in a circus tent at Zenith Arena on March 5 and March 8. An eclectic approach for an eclectic artist.
