The Black Keys were signifiers of a divergence in rock music in the 2000s. They took rock back to basics (literally just a drum and guitar) and sold a fuzzed-out, decidedly retro vision of rock n’ roll to the masses.

Eventually, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney realized there was nothing wrong with a little bit of polish. They put the studio shine on their albums Brothers and El Camino and quickly became staples of car commercials and mainstream rock radio. After dropping Turn Blue in 2014, however, the band went on hiatus for its respective members to focus on other projects.

Demand for their brand of blues-rock never went away, though, and the band knows it. They are returning for a 31-date trek, dubbed the Let’s Rock tour, that also includes Modest Mouse, Shannon and the Clams and *repeat repeat. The tour kicks off in the fall at Las Vegas’ Life is Beautiful festival, sticking to the Midwest and East until well into November. The tour concludes with a run of West Coast dates, culminating in a performance at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on November 24.
