To commemorate 40 years together, rock icons Blondie will release a greatest hits album as well as full album of new tunes–Blondie 4(0) Ever and Ghosts of Download–on May 13. Of course, what’s an album release without a tour to follow? The band will hit the road on May 24 in Atlantic City at the Tropicana Showroom, followed by shows in Bethlehem, PA, on May 25, and New York on May 28, before touring Europe for most of the summer. Highlights include Stockholm on June 10, Amsterdam on June 18, Berlin on June 23, and London on July 1. They’ll also perform at Ottawa Bluesfest, as well as many other stops in Canada. The group will head stateside to finish out the tour with a show at Harrah’s Rincon in Valley Center, CA, on October 3.
Founded by singer Deborah Harry and Guitarist Chris Stein, Blondie came up through the New York punk scene of the mid-70s. They became a massive mainstream success as part of the new wave musical movement with a variety of hit songs like “Call Me,” “Heart of Glass,” and “One Way or Another.” After breaking up in 1982, Blondie reformed in 1997 and has been steadily touring and putting out records ever since (with Harry, Stein, and drummer Clem Burke being the only original members still in the group today).
