Bob Weir & RatDog Announce 2014 Summer Tour Dates
Jam band Bob Weir & RatDog have just announced they’ll be adding a series of summer shows to their already impressive 2014 touring schedule, which has been their first heavy list of shows in nearly five years. The guys will start off on June 4 at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY. From there it’s a few shows in Northeast, before they head West — hitting Michigan, Minneapolis and Kansas City along the way — eventually playing the Greek Theatre in LA on July 2. After shows in Santa Barbara, Las Vegas and Phoenix, the group will make their way into the middle of the country, playing Redd Butte Garden in Salt Lake City on July 10, the Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA, from August 14-17, and Highland Park, IL, on August 31 (among other shows). They’ll finish up at the Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival in Danville, IL, which runs from September 11 to 14.
Originally a side project for Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir with bassist Rob Wasserman, RatDog became Weir’s main creative outlet following the Dead’s breakup due to Jerry Garcia’s death in 1995. In the time since, the band has put out both a studio and live album, but have mostly gained notoriety due to their live shows, which consist of a mix of Grateful Dead tunes, Weir’s solo tracks, cover songs, and the occasional band original. Their current lineup consists of Weir (obviously), Wasserman, drummer Jay Lane, bassist Robin Sylvester, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, and guitarist Steve Kimock.
