UPDATE: Las Vegas

Still no official word on whether or not Ms. Spears will be calling Las Vegas home for a residency or not, but the rumor mill has been piping hot over the past week.

In addition to Britney tweeting a “Viva Las Vegas” hashtag on her Twitter page this week, comes the confirmation from Caesars Palace that they have been courting her for a slate of recurring performances. (source: Billboard). However, there has been no confirmation from Spears’ camp about negotiations or the possibility of this happening.

We’ll continue to bring you the latest news as this evolves over the coming weeks. Hopefully we will have dates and ticket information to report!

With Britney Spears leaving the X Factor and our hopes for a new album and tour published below, comes rampant speculation that the pop diva may in fact be returning to the stage soon. The one wrinkle is that her return shows may be all in one location – Las Vegas. As several notable artists have done recently (one example is Celine Dion), Spears is angling for a Las Vegas residency to resurrect her live career.

According to sources of those over at Pollstar, Spears has been negotiating for “a significant production show on the Strip for a major hotel,” and that talks had reached a “very serious stage.”

This could mean a huge announcement could be coming soon … or not. In any event, we’ll be sure to bring you all the latest details on any Britney comeback. Keep it locked right here at SeatGeek.

If anyone deserves a triumphant second (or would this count as her third?) act, it’s Miss Britney Jean Spears: pop queen, cautionary tale, successful hitmaker, troubled celebrity whose ostensible luck in gaining too much, too soon, caused her life to spiral into a tabloid-documented circus from which she was never the ringleader. Her several “big breaks” following 2002’s de-folliculate debacle (that time she shaved her head while suffering a nervous breakdown) have only served to further dull our collective memory of the Bright Young Thing she once was, chewing gum in a pantomime of boredom and donning a Catholic school-girl outfit in mimicry of more adult entertainers. Her VMAs performance was a flop; so was this hair color; and now, she’s been disinvited from the next season of the American X Factor. We’re rooting for you, Britney, but even diehard Team Britney-with-one-T members have to ask: What could possibly be next?

A kickass tour!

First, though, there has to be an album to promote. (Unless she wants to hop on the nostalgia bandwagon and perform the entirety of ….Baby One More Time at each and every show. We’d be OK with that, too.) Luckily, hot on the heels of her dishonorable discharge from Simon Cowell’s British import – which has yet to reach the level of mania/success/maniacal success of the UK X Factor, FYI – has come news of a new Britney Spears album. The singer has reportedly been hard at work planning future Top 40 hits with ubiquitous producer will.i.am. and Kanye/Jay-Z collaborator (“N****s in Paris”) Hit-Boy. We, who were in elementary school in the ’90s/early 00’s and enjoyed our first exposure to music videos via former-Mouseketeer Britney’s offerings on the Disney Channel, are very excited, even bolstered, by this news.

If the untitled release drops sometime in 2013, a tour can’t be too far off. We’re going to throw out an arbitrary but nonetheless educated guess, and call a Britney Spears concert tour for sometime in late 2013. As almost one full year is a painfully long time to wait for high-caliber pop, go ahead and scroll through some of Britney’s music videos at the bottom of this post – or just gaze in conflated awe-dismay at Brit’s transformation from her first album to her latest in our album-cover section below.
