Chet Faker Adds Australian Shows to Start of 2015
Aussie electronic artist Chet Faker has just announced he’s adding a series of shows through his home country for February. Faker is currently playing in France and will be playing in the United Kingdom later this month, although he’ll land stateside on at the end of November to play a couple shows in California — at the Mack Sennett Studios in LA on November 29 and the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach on December 1. He’ll then fly back to the “Land Down Under” to the play the Vanfest in Forbes on December 6, followed by appearances at the Rhythm & Vines Festival in New Zealand, at Gisbourne on December 30 and Wanaka on December 31. The newly added Australian shows will kick off on February 11 at the ANU Bar in Canberra. After that it’s on to performances n Sydney and Brisbane. Faker will take the stage back-to-back at the Perth Festival in Chevron Gardens on February 20 and 21. He’ll finish up the leg with shows at the Palias Theatre in Melbourne on February 27 and the Barton Theatre in Adelaide on February 28.
Real name Nick Murphy, Chet Faker (a stage name in homage to jazz legend Chet Baker) rose to prominence when his remix of the Backstreet Boys’ “No Diggity” became a viral hit online in 2011, which he followed up with by releasing a wide variety of singles and EP throughout 2012 and 2013. Faker released his debut album, Built on Glass, in April to much critical and commercial success.
