American Idol and Masked Singer competitor Chris Daughtry will tour after bowing out of his second high-profile singing competition at second place. The singer behind both The Rottweiler and the band Daughtry revealed that he’s “just not good at winning s***” but will still entertain tons of fans in 2020.

Daughtry said he stayed away from the type of music that folks would expect from him during his tenure on The Masked Singer, using the costume as a way to avoid any preconceived notions of what he should sing.

“I specifically stayed away from rock. I wanted to find songs that spoke to me and really challenged a different part of my voice. I didn’t want to disguise it and try to sing like a different person, but I wanted to do songs that would not put me in that range that would be too obvious, that higher register,” he told Billboard.

It remains to be seen if Daughtry will bring any of that experimentation out on the road. He’ll start a run of shows on March 13 at the Peppermill Concert Hall in Nevada. Several western casinos follow before Daughtry makes the jump to New Jersey and the Bergen Performing Arts Center. Daughtry plays a swath of Canadian dates before closing out the tour on May 9 at Vermont’s Paramount Theatre.
