Damon Albarn Announces Summer Tour for ‘Everyday Robots’
Former Blur frontman Damon Albarn is set to release his solo album, Everyday Robots (check the album’s title single below), this week, and has just announced a string of shows in the United States and abroad to support it. He’ll kick off the Stateside leg of the tour on June 6 at Governors Ball Musical Festival in New York City, staying in New York for a show two days later on June 8 at Irving Plaza. Then, Albarn will move through Boston, MA; Baltimore, MD; Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; and Manchester, TN before heading back to the Continent. After a number of shows in Europe, he’ll end his tour on July 26 with a set at the Fuji Rock Festival in Niigata, Japan. Tickets for most of the shows and festivals are on sale now.
Damon Albarn is best known for being the frontman for Britpop/alternative rock band Blur, but he is also the principal songwriter and vocalist for the animated virtual band Gorillaz. Fun fact: Gorillaz are cited by the Guinness Book of World Records as being the “Most Successful Virtual Band.” Albarn also does charity work for Oxfam and has dabbled in opera with Monkey: Journey to the West and Dr. Dee.
