Dark Star Orchestra Tour

Dark Star Orchestra, Grateful Dead tribute band/devotees from another dimension, have almost reached that point in their career where they’ve played as many shows as The Dead did throughout their 30 years of touring. Except that Dark Star Orchestra have not been touring for 30 years – they’ve been performing for roughly half that. And, given the ensemble’s stamina, it’s looking like they’re well on their way toward out-touring one of the most successful traveling acts in jam-band history. Unsurprisingly, Dark Star Orchestra have recently announced a string of summer tour dates!

The group will travel throughout the popular touring season, getting going on June 28 in Bellvue, CO, and keeping up a steady pace through July and August, finally bringing their series to a wrap on August 17 in Black Mountain, NC. Along the way, the members of Dark Star Orchestra have organized a five-day retreat in the Catskills, which they’ve called DSO High School, scheduled for August 5-9. The fully immersive Dead-Head experience will feature classes on such varied topics as “Touring with The Dead,” “Grateful Dead Pianists,” and “Tapers 101,” featuring GD recording engineer Betty Cantor-Jackson and her collection of Grateful Dead master reel tapes. This is some serious fandom at work here, although whether you’re a casual enthusiast or full-on student of The Dead as a way of life, we’ve got tickets to almost all of Dark Star Orchestra’s upcoming shows below!
