In a synopsis by NME, to give you an idea of what maybe to expect, “the Los Angeles show had 38 songs and lasted for 3 1/2 hours, following the premiere of Sound City. The show was split into sections, with each guest musician playing around four songs, including classic tracks and their contributions to the Sound City soundtrack.”

Tickets for the show go on sale February 5. Check back with us here at SeatGeek for the best deals on tickets.

UPDATE: More on the horizon?

With the next Sound City Players gig set for January 31 at the Hollywood Palladium, Dave Grohl has indicated that the collective may not be done performing live together just yet.

Grohl has revealed that he is planning to play live shows with the rest of the group, which includes Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, John Fogerty, Lee Ving, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick and Rick Springfield, all over the world in the future.

“We plan to do shows all over the world,” the Foo Fighters frontman told Billboard. “When I came up with the idea of taking all these performers to the live stage a few months ago, my idea [was] to have video presentations between each performance. We’ll have that at the next shows.”

As news of new concerts comes about, we’ll be sure to bring you all the news right here at SeatGeek.

Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players brought down the house last night at Park City Live in Park City, Utah as part of the Sundance Film Festival and in celebration of the release of his documentary Sound City.

Billboard gives a great synopsis of the show. You can read the full show report at the link above. Here is a snapshot: “Taking the stage at 9:35 p.m. Friday (Jan. 18) under the name of Sound City Players, Grohl used the Foo Fighters in various configurations and created a few supergroups to explore the music of Fleetwood Mac, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Queens of the Stone Age, Fear and Rick Springfield, introducing music recorded for the film as they went along. A Herculean feat — Grohl never left the stage — that resulted in an expertly executed night.”

Sound City Players – Fortunate Son

The Sound City Players have one more scheduled gig to coincide with the premiere of Sound City – January 31 at the Hollywood Palladium.

Sound City Players Documentary

Dave Grohl is quite the busy rockstar these days. When he’s not in the studio with Queens of the Stone Age or reuniting Nirvana with Paul McCartney at the helm, he’s been directing a documentary entitled Sound City that chronicles the history of the famous Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA. Before the studio closed in 2011, it was home to bands such as Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, and Rage Against The Machine to name just a few.

To coincide with the release of the film, which is a 2013 feature selection at the Sundance Film Festival, Grohl is assembling an all-star roster of musicians named the Sound City Players for a gig in Park City, UT, the night of January 18 at Park City Live.

Joining Grohl on stage will be the rest of the Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, John Fogerty, Rick Springfield, members of Rage Against The Machine, The Wallflowers, and Cheap Trick.

The documentary will be officially released on February 1 with the soundtrack to follow on March 12. As for tickets to the show, they are on sale now:
