California Gets a Dose of Dead Can Dance
Dead Can Dance Tour
Dead Can Dance, a new-age world fusion band with classical influences and dark tones, has announced a handful of West Coast gigs. The shows are in addition to the band’s appearance at this year’s Coachella Festival, which also features artists like Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Bassnectar. Besides the festival, which takes place over April 14 & April 21 weekends, you can see DCD at Symphony Hall in San Francisco, CA, on April 15. Or, head to Napa, CA, on April 17 to catch them at the Uptown Theater.
After a six-year hiatus, Dead Can Dance has been going strong since their reformation in 2011. Just last year, they released their eighth (and highly anticipated) studio album, Anastasis, which is their first studio album in 16 years. In Greek, the word “anastasis” means “resurrection” which is fitting for a band whose career has spanned 32 years, and has seen the departure of two members. The album was received favorably overall, earning 8/10 from Pitchfork Media, and a 69/100 from review-aggregating website Metacritic. Check out their song “Opium” off the new album below.
