Prog-rocker Devin Townsend always zigs when folks think he should zag. For example, he released a dense, layered solo album this year and thn opted to tour it with acoustic sets.

“Bringing it back to just an acoustic guitar and myself, and still having it portray the same emotions that I believe the songs were meant to portray with all that schmutz on it, I think connects people with the work,” he told Consequence of Sound at the time.

However, it looks like Townsend is finally ready to tour the material with a full band. He’ll bring along Hakan and The Contortionist for a month-long tour starting next February.

The trek sets out from the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on February 27. From there, Townsend heads to Brooklyn’s Warsaw and begins an run down the Atlantic Coast. He turns westward from Orlando’s Plaza Live to play Dallas’ Granada Theater and Chicago’s Metro. The tour closes on March 25 with a show at San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom.
