Philadelphia-based indie rockers Dr. Dog have quite a few studio records under their belt (seven, to be exact), but they’re really best known for their raucous live shows. In honor of this, the band is all set to release their first-ever live album, Dr. Dog Live at a Flamingo Hotel, on January 13 via ANTI-Records. And there’s a tour to go with it! The Flaming Hotel Tour kicks off on January 9 with four shows at Brooklyn, NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg. Dr. Dog will then stay in New York for four shows at Bowery Ballroom before continuing to Buffalo, VT; Washington, DC; Boston, MA; Minneapolis, MN; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR: Oakland, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Pomona, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; Asheville, NC; Oxford, MS; Baton Rouge, LA; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Lawrence, KS; St. Louis, MO; and Chicago, IL, among others. Pick up the live album to preview the show, and for more information on the tour, visit Dr. Dog’s website.
Consisting of Toby Leaman, Scott McMicken, Frank McElroy, Zach Miller, Eric Slick, and Dimitri Manos, Dr. Dog was formed in West Grove, PA, in 1999. They cite the influences for their unique musical sound as bands like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Guided by Voices, and Pavement.
