With their fall tour in the United Kingdom set to kick off on November 26 in Nottingham, Elbow have announced that the six shows will be their last for awhile. Frontman Guy Garvey stated that the band will part ways after the tour to concentrate on other personal endeavors and are treating the tour as a “farewell party” – at least until the band regroups in late 2013 to finish off their next album.

It has been a busy 2012 for Elbow. As we highlighted below, the band was selected to perform the London 2012 Olympic theme, they released a new album in August entitled “Dead In The Boot” and also revealed their plans for a series of tour dates across the United Kingdom.
Their most recent news was today’s announcement of another London tour date on their trek, this time at the Wembley Arena, a venue that seats 12,500 and sits across from Wembley Stadium.

Elbow, the British rock band selected to perform the musical theme for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is also set to release their latest studio album. Dead in the Boot will be Elbow’s first official release as they begin their third decade together. The sixth album from Guy Garvey, Richard Jupp, Craig Potter, Mark Potter, and Pete Turner will carry a notable “late-night vibe” according to their frontman. After the Olympiad is in the record books, fans can count on picking up the new Elbow album August 27, and catching the band live for five dates around England starting in late November.

A staple on the UK Top 20 with each of their previous five albums, this band from Ramsbottom earned critical acclaim for their fourth album, The Seldom Seen Kid, and completed a tour supporting Build a Rocket Boys! earlier in 2012. Elbow’s mix of traditional and progressive rock, including heavy influences from Peter Gabriel-era Genesis as well as Radiohead, keeps fans hungry for a sound that continues to involve. 2011’s Build a Rocket Boys! hit #2 on the UK charts – their highest-ever rank, and Elbow 2012 ticket prices are sure to see a boost given the relatively small number of dates and rising stardom.
