Elvis Costello & The Roots New Album

In one of the year’s hottest bits of collaboration news, Elvis Costello is teaming up with The Roots to release a new album. The artists, each a legend in his/their respective genre, have titled the record Wise Up Ghost. In true indie style, this first in what will hopefully be a series of joint efforts is being released without the help (interference?) of a record company. “We did it without a label or deadline pressure,” said Questlove in a recent interview. “This absolutely was a passion project.”

Which are, as we well know, the best kind. What we don’t know is how it’ll pan out – what can fans expect to hear from several of our most talented musicians? “It’s a moody, brooding affair, cathartic rhythms and dissonant lullabies,” said Questlove, “…Elvis went HAM on some ‘ole Ezra Pound shit.” In other words, fans can expect to hear a lot of poetic fabulousness. Unfortunately, little else besides the album’s release date (September 17) is known, as of now – be sure to keep checking back with us in the weeks ahead, however, as more info, including the album’s cover art and tracklist, is released!
