British synthpop duo Erasure have just announced that their upcoming album, The Violent Flame, will hit stores on September 23. To support the release, the two will be taking on a MASSIVE world tour. Although the guys will play a couple a shows in the UK in August, they’ll really get started stateside at the Filmore in Miami on September 12. From there, they’ll travel through Florida, to Atlanta, and onto a run through the Northeast, eventually moving on to the Midwest (after a show in Toronto). After playing Nashville on October 8, the pair will run through Texas, with a stopover in New Orleans on October 17, then move on to the Southwest, California, Denver, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.

After playing Oakland, CA on November 1, the guys fly to Europe, playing Belfast on November 9 and then spend the rest of the month playing the UK — highlights include Nottingham on November 15, Edinburgh on November 20 and Manchester on November 30. They’ll then move on to shows in Germany and Denmark, before playing a show in London on December 14. The guys will finish the tour (and the year) with a pair of shows at Terminal 5 in New York on December 30 and 31.

Consisting of singer Andy Bell and keyboardist Vince Clarke, Erasure has been a mainstay of the electronic music scene since the mid-eighties and scored numerous top 40 hits around the world. To date, they’ve sold 25 million albums worldwide. The Violent Flame will be their sixteenth album.
