Josh Tillman, lead singer of Father John Misty, sways his hips with an unparalleled cool elegance, has a beautiful voice, and a great sense of humor. He sings honest, well-arranged songs, spitting truths such as, “We could do ayahuasca, baby, if I wasn’t holding all these drinks.” He is sexy. And he is playing a venue near you. The current tour, promoting his album, Fear Fun, which was released May 1st, stretches across the United States. Catch him at Webster Hall in New York on January 14th.

Tillman played drums for The Fleet Foxes (maybe you’ve heard of them?), but he downplays that part of his career, saying, “I just learned the drum parts for their songs and tried to execute them as best as I could.” After a long and winding career solo, Tillman says he had a music revelation once he’d “…lost all interest in writing music, or identifying as a ‘songwriter.’ I got into my van with enough mushrooms to choke a horse and started driving down the coast with nowhere to go. After a few weeks, I was writing a novel, which is where I finally found my narrative voice. The voice that is actually useful.” Father John Misty. Listen and Love.
