New Orleans jazz-and-funk band Galactic confirmed their touring schedule for early 2015, and it is a good. They’ll kick things off on January 27 at Vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola, FL, before heading to Orlando, FL; Hollywood, FL (for a free show at ArtsPark); Minneapolis, MN; Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI; Port Chester, NY (at The Capitol Theatre); Aspen, CO (at Belly Up); Bellingham, WA; Crystal Bay, NV; Petaluma, CA; and Los Angeles, CA. They’ll play their final shows on March 6 and 7 at The Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA. Tickets for all shows are on sale now via the band’s website.

Galactic was formed in 1994 under the name Galactic Prophylactic and was originally meant to be an octet (yes, that is a big band). The band currently consists of bassist Robert Mercurio, drummer Stanton Moore, organist Rich Vogel, guitarist Jeff Raines, saxophonist Ben Ellman, and former Living Colour lead singer Corey Glover on vocals. Raines and Mercurio, friends from childhood, moved to New Orleans for college, fell in love with the local funk scene, and started their own band. They released their first album in 1996.
