Feeling Lucky? Giorgio Moroder Planning Vegas Show
Giorgio Moroder Tour
Influential Italian producer and performer Giorgio Moroder has been pretty busy recently: he’s just worked with Daft Punk on their new album, he’s posting new music on his Soundcloud account, and he’s decided to moonlight as a DJ. And guess what? He’s planning more! A disco-themed, Las Vegas stage show, to be exact. Moroder has recently announced plans for “A Night With Giorgio Moroder,” a show that would recreate the legendary music and wild partying of New York’s Studio 54. Moroder would act as the DJ (with a backup that’s yet to be named), with dancers in cages and other fun things surrounding him. If it’s a hit, Moroder hinted that the show could go on the road, bringing New York’s salacious ’70s club to other parts of the country, and the world. The show could be ready in as little as a few months, and ticketing and venue detailing will be announced then. Stay tuned for more information.
Moroder made his name in the clubs of Europe, but struck it big with the film score to Midnight Express, for which he won an Academy Award in 1979. He collaborated with the late Donna Summer on her monster disco hits, “Love to Love You Baby” and “I Feel Love,” as well as with Bonnie Tyler, David Bowie, Irene Cara, Melissa Manchester, Blondie, and more. Moroder is also the founder of the former Musicland Studios in Munich, Germany, a studio used by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Queen, and more.
