Canadian musician Grimes (or as her mother lovingly named her, Claire Boucher) has announced a small Australian tour, which will feature four shows that run from December 6 to December 10. The first will be in Melbourne at the Corner Hotel, followed by a performance at the Meredith Music Festival in Victoria. Also appearing at the music festival is Primal Scream, Four Tet, Spiritualized, Sunnyboys, and Turbonegro. On December 8, Grimes will play in Brisbane at The Zoo, and the final show of the tour will be at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.
Grimes musical style is extremely varied, and she’s often been compared to artists like Bjork and Enya. She primarily uses keyboards, synthesizers, and sometimes drums and guitar, and will loop and layer her instruments and vocals to create a unique sound. In 2012, the release of her third full-length album, Visions, was met with critical acclaim by The New York Times, which called it “one of the most impressive albums of the year so far.”
