I Love EDM – I Love This City
If Outside Lands, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Treasure Island, and Harmony By the Bay, weren’t enough, San Francisco has yet another festival, I Love This City, to add to your calendar. I Love This City is a seriously electronic music festival, and if you felt as though the SF’s other festivals were lacking glow sticks and strobe lights, worry no more. Despite the fact that festival organizer, Rose Kirkland says, “I think that it’s really important to let the younger generation of electronic music fans experience something like this…we’re always trying to open up our shows to as many people as possible to experience the music.” The event is 18-plus, so young ravers will have to sit this one out and spin glow sticks by themselves in their basement. (Sigh.) Last year, in addition to music, the festival featured art installations, as well as 80 acrobats, dancers, and other performers from San Francisco’s Vau de Vire Society.
Last year’s event was moved at the last minute, from the parking lots (a great place to party…?) at AT&T theater, to the Shoreline Amphitheatre (owned by Live Nation – the organizers of the festival). The amphitheater is in Mountain View, CA, a full thirty miles outside of the city proper. Though Live Nation provided a free shuttle, some fans were still disappointed and made the valid point that the festival’s title was, I Love The City, not, I Love the Peninsula. Live Nation continues to capitalize on the EDM sensation sweeping the nation and also threw an I Love The City festival in San Diego. It was similar to their festival in San Francisco in both name and lineup.

I Love This City 2013 Lineup
I Love This City is an electronic music festival, so expect big names on the electro-scene. With their new album out, Justice seems like a likely candidate, but Calvin Harris or up-and-coming Grimes would be great to hear.
