Janet Jackson is one of the hardest working entertainers in show business. If you don’t believe us, take a look at her upcoming Black Diamond tour behind her new album under the same name. While most artists of her stature would be content to play a mix of the hits and a smattering of new tracks, Jackson will double up her 2020 shows and play new songs, old hits, and the entirety of her 1989 classic, Rhythm Nation.

Fans will get the chance to hear the new tracks starting on June 24 in Miami. She plays Orlando’s Amyway Center, the Amalie Arena in Tampa, and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena ahead of a return to New Orleans’ Essence Festival. She is also scheduled to headline the Cincinnati Music Festival in July. Jackson works her way up the East Coast from there, with stops at the Capital One Arena in DC and Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center before a night at Madison Square Garden. The 34-date tour virtually blankets the US, and comes to a close at the Tacoma Dome on August 23.

The new album appears to a be a follow-up in actual fact and in theme to her last release, Unbreakable. Jackson explained the title in a press release.

“Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut. I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy. There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form,” she shared. “I’m a rock, I have ruff edges but I keep moving forward. I want to show you my strength as well as give you strength.”
