Jeff Tweedy to Play Hometown Shows at Chicago’s Vic Theatre
Jeff Tweedy Tour
Wilco lead singer Jeff Tweedy usually kicks off every year in the same way, and 2014 will be no different. No, it’s not a long list of rock-star resolutions: It’s a run of solo shows in his hometown of Chicago. He’ll play two gigs at Vic Theatre on February 14 and 15 (how romantic), and proceeds from the shows will go to benefit academic scholarships. As in prior runs of these shows, Tweedy will let the first 30 fans in line choose the set list of songs for the concert which we think is pretty cool. Tickets are on sale now. Along with John Stirratt, Max Johnston, and Ken Coomer, Wilco has released a whopping eight studio albums, as well as two collaborative albums with Billy Bragg and The Minus 5. Tweedy has won two Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Album for A Ghost is Born. Besides his work with Wilco and Uncle Tupelo, he has worked with his side projects such as Golden Smog and Loose Fur, as well as published a book of poems and released a DVD of his own solo performances.
