John Mayer Trumpets Triumphant Touring Return

Here’s some big news for pop-rock fans (and the anti T-Swift contingent): John Mayer is heading out on his first tour in three years. The musician had been forced to stay off the road – or any stage, for that matter – while recovering from surgery to repair a granuloma in his throat. At one point, the “Gravity” singer was told he might never croon again. Happily, that hasn’t proven to be the case, and Mayer is confidently hopping back on that (tour) bus beginning July 7 in Milwaukee, WI. If he’s afraid of pushing his vocal-chord luck too far, you wouldn’t know it from his itinerary: Mayer’s booked four solid months of shows, most of which are back-to-back dates at large fairs, arenas and festivals.

So long as Mayer’s feeling confident in his recovery, we’re thrilled to spread the news. “For me to get back onstage and play again, it’s just like, ‘Oh right, this is what I’m able to do. This is what I’ve been able to do while I was watching a whole bunch of Westerns every night and making rice bowls with chicken,’ ” he told Rolling Stone Magazine in a recent interview, adding, “It’s been very fun to uncover it and rediscover it again.”
