As previously reported here at SeatGeek John Mayer is hitting the road again in 2012 after dealing with some medical issues. At the time, Mayer was only slated to perform a handful of gigs, including appearances at SXSW on March 17 and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 29. But now, Mayer is announcing a full scale tour that will run through April and May.

Touring in support of his new album, “Born & Raised,” Mayer will be supporting troops and veterans with his tour. According to Pollstar, “Mayer is giving fans plenty of opportunities to help him help vets. A block of third-row orchestra seats will be sold through Tickets-For-Charity with 100 percent of above-face value proceeds going to NCIRE. Fans can also bid on four front-row tickets along with meet-and-greets with proceeds aiding NCIRE.” The above efforts are through Mayer’s partnership with the Northern California Institute of Research and Education (NCIRE) which aids veterans transitioning back from the front lines to their everyday civilian way of life. A very noble effort.

John Mayer is healthy again. The singer/songwriter/guitarist is back to scheduling new shows again after undergoing surgery back in October. The throat surgery Mayer underwent was for a non-cancerous growth.

As of today, Mayer only has four dates scheduled but you can be rest assured new dates will be on the horizon as Mayer is a bit of a road warrior. The newest dates Mayer has scheduled is a two-night gig at the Global Events Center in Thackerville, Oklahoma on March 15-16. Also new to Mayer’s schedule is a gig at SXSW in Austin at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q on March 17. Mayer was previously scheduled to perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 28.
