Legendary American rock singer John “Hold The Cougar” Mellencamp is about to see a lot of “Pink Houses”—he’s just announced plans for a very extensive (we’re talking 80 shows over eight months) North American tour, kicking off in 2015. Dubbed the “Plain Spoken” Tour, shows start on January 21 in South Bend, IN, at the Morris Performing Arts Center. Next, Mellencamp will move through cities like Nashville, TN (he’s playing at the famed Ryman Auditorium); Cleveland, OH; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Austin TX; New Orleans, LA; New York, NY (with shows at both Carnegie Hall and the Apollo Theater); Toronto, ON; Montreal, QC; Los Angeles, CA; and many, many, more. The last date on this tour isn’t until August 4 when Mellencamp will play the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. This tour is all in support of Mellencamp’s new album, Plain Spoken. Country music singer-songwriter Carlene Carter will provide opening support for the tour. Tickets are available for some presales right now, and all tickets go on sale to the general public on September 19 at 10:00am local time.

John Mellencamp rose to fame in the early 1980’s with hits like “Hurts So Good”, “Jack & Diane”, “Pink Houses”, and “Small Town”. He’s sold over 40 million albums worldwide and earned 22 Top 40 hits in the United States. Mellencamp also holds the record for most tracks by a solo artist to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Chart—it’s seven.
