Swedish folk singer/songwriter José González has been due to make an appearance stateside for a while now (he hasn’t played a show this side of the Atlantic since 2008). So fans will be excited to learn that he’s just announced plans to tour North America in the Spring to promote his upcoming album, Vestiges & Claws, which drops in February. The “Heartbeats” singer will begin touring in early 2015, playing through Europe from Spain to the UK and Germany, and eventually making his way to the US of A. His first American show will be at Union Transfer in Philadelphia on April 6. After a quick detour to play a show in Washington DC, he’ll head North — playing through New York and Boston and then on to Montreal and Toronto. González will play Chicago’s Lincoln Hall on April 14 and then make a run through the Midwest, eventually finding his way to Portland, OR, for a show at the Wonder Ballroom on April 24. He’ll then play shows in Vancouver and San Francisco, before closing out the tour at the Regent Theatre in Los Angeles on April 29.

Born in Argentina, but raised in Sweden. José González’s musical career took off while he was pursuing his PhD in Biochemistry in the early 2000s with the release of his debut album Veneer, which sold over of 700,000 copies worldwide. He’s known for his classic guitar style, soft melodic singing and philosophical lyrics (the latter of which was especially present in his second album In Our Nature).
