After much legal and personal turmoil, singer Kesha is finally back with a new album and accompanying single. Earlier this month she released “Praying,” a Ryan Lewis (of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis)-produced ballad in which Kesha proclaims: “I’m proud of who I am/ No more monsters I can breathe again/ And you said that I was done/ But you were wrong and now the best is yet to come/ Cuz I can make it on my own/ I don’t need you, I found strength I’ve never known.”

The song is off her new album Rainbow. Due out on August 11, it will mark the singer’s first release in five years. In addition to production work from Ryan Lewis, a slew of musicians also appear on the record including Dolly Parton, Eagles of Death Metal, plus lyrical contributions from Ben Folds and even Kesha’s mom Pebe Sebert. Kesha told the Lenny blog that the new album is about coming to a place of peace and empathy after a fighting through feelings of “hopelessness and depression.”
