Australia’s Laneway Festival Coming to the U.S.
UPDATE
As previously announced, acclaimed Aussie music fest, Laneway Festival, will make its grand US debut this September. And what better way to kick off the soon-to-be-annual alt affair than by showcasing some of the world’s biggest indie names? To that end, The National and Sigur Ros will headline this year’s event, slated for September 14 in Rochester Hills, MI.

Joining them throughout the day will be Deerhunter, Savages, Youth Lagoon, Charli XCX, Icona Pop, Frightened Rabbit, and other Pitchfork-like darlings. Four stages have been set up for the express purpose of accommodating so much indie awesomeness in one space. Previous News: Laneway Festival
St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, a big Australian indie rock festival that is set to take place in Australia in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, will making its way to the United States for the first time in 2013.
Festival organizers have announced the first ever Laneway in the U.S. will take place on September 14 at the Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, MI.
In a scoop featured by the folks over at Pollstar, here is a break down of the details of the festival:
Laneway Festival founders Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio announced the U.S version of their creation during their annual SXSW party and showcase in Austin, Texas. Located north of Detroit on Oakland University’s campus, Meadow Brook’s capacity is 7,700. “We’re incredibly excited, said Laneway co-founder Rogers. “Detroit – with its unbelievably dynamic musical past and present – is the perfect location for our first foray into North America.”
The official lineup for the inaugural U.S. Laneway Festival has yet to be revealed so keep checking back with us for all the details once they are confirmed.
