Although she hasn’t released a a proper solo album since 1998, Lauryn Hill continues to play sporadic shows around the country since her release from prison over a year ago. Her latest appearances will take place in D.C. and NYC, as she prepares to play six solo acoustic shows this February. Ticket prices for the “Small Axe Acoustic Performance Series” range from $100-$175 on the primary market, and on the secondary market are already cropping up for prices ranging between $200-$300. Fans also have the opportunity to purchase a $200 meet and greet “experience,” which seems like a blatant ploy for Hill to make back all of the tax money she had to cough up recently, as the $200 doesn’t even cover the cost of a ticket. (I’m not sure I’d want to meet Lauryn Hill anyway… she kind of scares me.)
For our D.C.-dwelling friends, the shows will take place on 1/13 & 1/14 at the Howard Theatre. The rest of the time will be spent in New York City–Rough Trade in Brooklyn will play host on 1/17, as well as the Highline Ballroom on 1/20 & 1/23, and the Blue Note on 1/25 with a late and early show.
