Lily Allen Announces U.S. Shows, Album Release Date
Irreverent British songstress Lily Allen has just set May 6, 2014 as the release date for Sheezus, the follow-up to her 2009 album, It’s Not Me, It’s You (the album will be released through Warner Bros. Records). To support her new venture, Allen will be playing a series of shows, including a trio of performances in the United States. On May 15, Allen will play a set at the Highline Ballroom in New York City—her first U.S. concert in over four years. She’ll also make appearances at The Today Show on May 14 as a part of their Summer Concert Series, as well as a song or two at Live with Kelly and Michael on May 23. From there, Allen will stay in the UK or on the Continent, with sets planned at Glastonbury in the UK, Benicassim Festival in Spain, and more.
Lily Allen rose to fame via her musical recordings, which she posted on MySpace. Her first album, Alright, Still, sold 2.6 million copies around the world and garnered Allen nominations at the Grammy Awards, BRIT Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards. The singer’s 2009 follow-up, It’s Not Me, It’s You went to No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and was loved by fans and critics alike. Allen also had her own TV show (Lily Allen and Friends on BBC Three).
