Lorde Hits Festival Circuit, Announces World Tour
Her 16-date United States tour sold out almost instantly, so you knew Lorde was coming back to North America. Still in support of Pure Heroine, her debut full-length album, Lorde will kick off her North American shows at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL on August 1. Next, she’ll head to the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal, QC, and then move through Philadelphia, PA; Boston, MA; Lewiston, NY; Ottawa, ON; Toronto, ON; New York, NY; Raleigh, NC; and more, before finishing up with a show at the second weekend of Austin City Limits in August, TX on October 12. Born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor in New Zealand, Lorde released her first single, “Royals”, to instant acclaim. It debuted at No. 1 on the New Zealand Top 40 and soon followed suit on the U.S.’ Billboard Hot 100. Lorde won Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards for “Royals”, and she was also chosen as International Female Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards that same year. She has said she draws her inspiration from Etta James, Otis Redding, Fleetwood Mac, and Kanye West.
