Lucinda Williams Announces U.S. Tour
American rock singer and country singer-songwriter (she’s got a lot of hyphens attached to her name) Lucinda Williams has just announced plans for more tour dates this November. She’ll start things off on November 2 in Denver, CO at the Ogden Theatre before continuing onto St. Louis, MO; Austin, TX; Lexington, KY; Washington, DC; Collingswood, NJ; New York, NY (at the Beacon Theatre); Boston, MA; Royal Oak, MI; and, finally, Chicago, IL on November 28 at the Vic Theatre. The Kenneth Brian Band provides support for some of these dates. All of this is in support of Williams’ latest album, Where the Spirit Meets the Box, due out September 30. Pre-orders for the album are available now, so you can sing along when you go to the show. Tickets are ready for purchase, as well.
Lucinda Williams released her debut in 1978 in a traditional country style and received, well, little to no recognition. But she kept at it, eventually hitting her big break in 1998 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, an album that contained snippets of blues, rock, and country. She won a Grammy for the album and was named “America’s Best Songwriter” by TIME magazine in 2002.
