Madison Square Garden Concerts

Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, is one of the most heralded indoor concert venues in the United States, having staged shows from a laundry list of music icons and legends.

Some of the more notable concert highlights at the venue include the following:
1971 – George Harrison’s The Concert for Bangladesh
1972 – four sold out performances from Elvis Presley
1977 – Led Zeppelin plays four sold out shows
1984Duran Duran rocks the house with two sold out concerts
1988 – Madison Square Garden called the Michael Jackson show on March 3, 1988 the greatest in the venue’s history
2001 – The Concert for New York City
2006Billy Joel plays 12 shows at MSG, the longest run by any artist in history
2012 – Hurricane Sandy Relief Concert

Elton John holds the record for number of concerts held at Madison Square Garden with 62. Other bands that have played MSG a considerable amount of times include Grateful Dead (52) and Phish (27).

This spring and summer, the concert calendar has some big shows on the docket – Fleetwood Mac visits MSG on April 8; Alicia Keys on April 11; Eric Clapton and his Crossroads Festival comes to town on April 13 and April 14 followed by Muse on April 15 and April 16.
