UPDATE: Mariah Carey’s New Album Delayed Again

Mariah Carey set off a firestorm of excitement when she announced in early June that her newest album would be released on July 23. The album, titled “The Art of Letting Go”, will be her fourteenth release in a long line of successful works. However, as of last monday, she appears to have changed her mind. Mariah broke the unfortunate news via Twitter, saying:

So, all in all, the news is not too bad. Although her fans will certainly be disappointed by the delay (especially after such a firm date!), perhaps they can rest assured that Mariah is truly pouring her heart and soul into the album. With promising hits like ‘#Beautiful’ already teasing us, the album is sure to be worth the wait. In the meantime, you can check out her performance during the Macy’s 4th of July Special with Miguel.

Mariah Carey’s New Album

Mariah Carey is ready to rock the music world once again. Yesterday, June 5, she dropped this bomb on the Twittersphere:

A new era? How much can we expect from this new album? With more than twelve studio albums behind her and an undeniably impressive list of achievements and awards, it’s tempting to expect greatness. Unfortunately, Mariah has managed to keep the details of her new album under wraps. We do know, however, that the album will feature collaborations with Jermaine Dupri, Q-Tip, The-Dream, R. Kelly, Da Brat, Rodney Jerkins and Hit-Boy. Moreover, her record label Island Def Jam has confirmed the date, and that she will not be returning to American Idol next year as a judge. Carey fans may interpret this move as a shift to focus on her personal career. After collaborating with rising star Miguel to release the hot new single “#Beautiful” only a month ago, which currently sits at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, this does not seem like too much of a stretch.

Although Mariah has not announced any dates or locations for her upcoming world tour, they are likely in the works. After the release of her last studio album in 2009, she followed up with the “Angels Advocate Tour” throughout 2010. In the meantime, fans will be counting down the days until July 23.
