Matt Mays Spreading the Love All Over Canada
Ever feel like Canadians have all the fun? Yeah, me neither, but they are lucky enough to have Matt Mays, the rock n’ roller and Ontario native, touring the entirety of their country this fall. The tour will be in support of Mays’ new record, Coyote, which was released Tuesday on Sonic Records, and kicked off yesterday with a sold-out show at Toronto’s The Dakota. The Dakota show is the first of two at the Toronto venue, but certainly not the only spots Mays will hit up in Ontario. He’ll also perform in Ottowa, Kingston, Thunder Bay, and London. Not to mention the slew of shows in Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatoon, Newfoundland, Quebec and New Brunswick. The tour wraps up in New Brunswick on November 17, with a gig in Fredericton at The Market.
Mays got his start back in the 1990s when he was performing with Canadian indie band The Guthries. He left the band in 2002 to pursue a career with yet another band, Matt Mays & El Torpedo. The band received critical acclaim, receiving five East Coast Music Association Nominations in 2008. While they technically disbanded in 2009, two of the former members of El Torpedo still perform with Mays. Catch them performing throughout the Great North this fall.
