Merchandise Announces New Album ‘After the End’, Summer Tour
Tampa, Florida-based punk trio Merchandise has announced their newest album set for release this summer. After the End, the group’s third LP but first on the British label 4AD, will be out August 26th. In support of this effort, Merchandise will be on tour starting in June. While only June dates have been announced, we hope there are more to follow. The tour will begin on June 13 in Birmingham, AL before heading to Lousiville, Kentucky for a show at Zanzabar. Midwest fans can catch the group in Chicago at Schuba’s on June 15 and at Detroit’s Jumbo’s on June 16. While the tour will mostly cover the East Coast and the South, Merchandise will have two shows in Canada: Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto on June 17 and La Vitrola in Montreal the following day. New York City by far gets the most Merchandise love with three consecutive shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan at Home Sweet Home from June 21 to June 25. The tour will round out with southern shows in Baltimore on June 27, Pinhook in Durham on June 28, and Atlanta on June 29.
Fans of the band will notice that this third album is a notable departure from previous ones. Merchandise’s Carson Cox has said that their last album Totale Nite marks the end of, not just a chapter, but a book for the band. Fans can expect this newest effort will be reflect a more pop-y sound with whimsical hits like “Little Killer.”
