(Update 10/21/15)
Dan Deacon has been added to the Miley Cyrus/Flaming Lips joint tour as opening support. Of the addition, Deacon told MXDWN.com: “I think it’s safe to say without any doubt that the experience of touring with Miley and the Flaming Lips will be one of the most reality-curving events of my career thus far. Mostly I’m really looking forward to introducing my music and performance to her fans and to watch this show unfold each night.” The small tour is certainly shaping up to be an epic one!

(Update 10/5/15)

(Update 10/2/15)
Miley Cyrus took to Jimmy Fallon last night to announce her plans for a joint tour with the Flaming Lips. While an odd pairing for fans of the two vastly different musical ventures, it’s no surprise that Cyrus would want to hit the road with her buddy Wayne Coyne. Not only have the two formed a strong friendship, but Coyne has also just co-created Miley’s surprise new album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, which was released at the end of August. Stay tuned for more details as they are announced.

Miley Cyrus is killin’ it right now. Last night the 22-year-old talent not only hosted the sh*t out of the VMAs, but also closed out the show with a surprise performance of her new single “Dooo It!” followed by an even more surprise album drop. Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz is a 23-track collection created with her friend, and Flaming Lips frontman, Wayne Coyne. Available for free on her website, the album is a clear departure from her previous work and was inspired by the death of her dog Floyd last year. (You can also stream is below via SoundCloud.)

With Miley back in the spotlight and ready to reclaim her throne as the Queen of Pop (move over, Taylor!), many fans are wondering if the singer is ready to hit the road again. Although she spent the majority of 2014 on tour promoting Bangerz, it’s been almost a year since she’s appeared onstage for an official album tour. (Speaking of Taylor, wouldn’t it be amazing if Tay Tay and Miley toured together? C’mon ladies, let’s do it.) Of course, this is all just speculation, and fans will have to wait until Miley Ray is ready to announce the big news herself. For now, enjoy this clip of Ms. Cyrus shutting down the attention-starved Nicki Minaj at the VMAs last night.
