Miley Cyrus Enlists Big Names For Album & (We’re Hoping) Tour
Miley Cyrus Tour 2013
Former Disney Channel star, Nicholas Sparks ingenue and newly affianced Miley Cyrus is all grown up (and probably tired of hearing that), gearing up to release her fourth studio album. In-keeping with her edgy new haircut, which we’re actually big fans of, Cyrus is taking her sound in a new direction, spicing up her recipe for awesome party anthems with a little hip-hop and R&B. (Maybe she was influenced by this viral remix?) Both Mary J. Blige and Tyler, The Creator have signed on as collaborators, with Blige earning co-writing credit for an untitled track that “obsessed” Tyler to such a degree he asked Miley if he could “guest” on it.
Does that mean they’ll both guest on the tour?

Not that Cyrus has released any concert details – yet. She did provide a little background info on the unusual choice of Tyler, the creator of the Odd Future rap ensemble, as a featured act, however. In a recent interview with Seventeen Magazine, Cyrus explained:
-
“I wrote this song with Mary J. Blige, and Tyler, the Creator heard it and said, ‘I am obsessed with this song, and I will guest on it if you promise me that you will keep it on the album.’ And he killed it! I really didn’t want to make a hip-hop record, and I’m not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki [Minaj]… That’s not my vibe.”
But don’t think the older & wiser Hannah Montana is against cross-genre influences:
-
“When I was growing up, my older brother would sneak me Nelly CDs, my dad had me listening to Dolly [Parton] and Johnny [Cash], and my mom is a complete metal head. So this record is a weird mixture of all that.”
We’re all about refashioning the old to make something new, so if Miley’s take on contemporary and past artists pays off, bloggers may finally stop ragging on her hair, and start writing about her ability to rack up the hits. Well, some of them might.
We’ll continue to provide updates as Cyrus’ camp releases them, but while you wait for tour news, go ahead and check out our host of Miley Cyrus offerings below:
