Mobb Deep Announces New Record, New Tour

East Coast rappers Havoc and Prodigy (aka Mobb Deep, people) took to HuffPo last week to announce plans for their much-awaited eighth album. Set to drop this spring, the upcoming release is a two-disc special: one disc of new tracks, and one of a digitally remastered cut of 1995’s The Infamous with ten unreleased tracks from that album’s recording sessions. To promote the new record, Mobb Deep is hitting the road for a 31-date, North American tour with stops in Boston, MA; San Diego, CA; New York, NY (the duo’s hometown); Raleigh, NC; Tampa, FL; Oakland, CA; Boise, ID; Salt Lake City, UT; and Lawrence, KS, to name a few. Following the North American tour dates, Mobb Deep will continue through to Europe this summer (dates to be announced soon). Rappers Havoc and Prodigy formed Mobb Deep in Queensbridge, Queens, New York in 1992. They’re partially credited for a resurgence of East Coast rap in the early-to-mid 1990s, having sold over three million records over the span of their long career. The duo temporarily disbanded due to a public feud in 2012, but hip-hop fans worldwide are happy to see that they’ve squashed their beef and reunited.
