Aces! Brand New & Modest Mouse to Play at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium
Alt-rock bands of note, Brand New and Modest Mouse, already have plans to play together at this Memorial Day’s iteration of the Boston Calling Music Festival, but they’ve just announced a date that is sure to make their New York City-area fans very happy. The two bands are set to share a bill on August 9 at the newly re-opened Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Forest Hills, Queens (the only other show announced so far at the stadium is Zac Brown Band on June 21). This date at a historic venue is sure to be a hot seat, and unsurprisingly presales are already sold out. But, all hope isn’t lost yet: tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, May 1 at 12:00 noon, or you can buy them off the secondary market (found below).
Forest Hills Tennis Stadium is notable for hosting the US Open a total of 60 times, first from 1915 to 1920 and again from 1924 to 1977. In addition to tennis, the stadium was used for a number of concerts, including Linda Ronstadt, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix. Almost demolished in 2011, a Mumford & Sons concert was used as a trial in the summer of 2013 to see if the venue could be restored to its former summer concert glory.
