moe.’s Tropical Throe.down to Return in 2015
We know its barely summer, but you can’t blame us for wanting to stretch the summer weather into our winter plans. We (and all you other jam band fans) are in luck! moe. has just announced the return of their Tropical Throe.down destination festival. Last seen in 2011 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, this year’s festival will take place January 9 to 13, 2015 at the Grand Lido Resort in Negril, Jamaica. A full lineup and ticketing information have yet to be announced, but you can probably expect the same as previous years: a fun and action-packed stay with an exciting, four-night itinerary (and three or four moe. shows). Stay tuned for more details and you could be relaxing in the soft sands of the Caribbean come January.
Formed at the University of Buffalo in 1989, moe. is comprised of bassist Rob Derhak, guitarist Al Schnier, guitarist Chuck Garvey, drummer Vinnie Amico, and percussionist Jim Loughlin. The band’s first record, 1992’s Fatboy, launched them as jam icons along with bands such as Widespread Panic and Phish. They’re darlings on the festival circuit, with Bonnaroo, Furthur, Woodstock ’99, and many more under their belts.
