Of Montreal have announced that they’ll be touring this fall in support of last year’s album Lousy with Sylvianbriar. The group will kick things off at The Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC on October 1. They’ll then make their way through Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, and the Midwest. They’ll hit Spokane, WA, on October 11 and then play down the West Coat with shows in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles. They’ll then go on through the Pacific Northwest and Texas (with a show at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa on October 21 in between), before heading on to their last shows of the tour at the Howlin Wolf in New Orleans on October 24 and Terminal West in Atlanta on October 25.
Hailing from Athens, GA, and founded by frontman Kevin Barnes (the constant in a rotating casting of band members over the years), Of Montreal is part of the indie record company/musical collective Elephant 6. The band is known for their sometimes insanely bizarre live shows and ever-evolving sound that mixes rock, funk, psychedelic and pop. A history- spanning documentary about the band, The Past Is a Grotesque Animal, which found funding on Kickstarter, hits theaters on June 24.
