What to call your summer tour so that it stands out from the seasonal pack is always a tricky business (go boastful?go truthful?), so naming it after an inside joke no one else will understand seems as good a decision as any. Don’t worry, John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats assures his fans, he fully intends to explain what “TUTTLINGEN WARRIORS” means during each show on his upcoming TUTTLINGEN WARRIORS TOUR. He’ll have quite a few explanations to give, as Darnielle and his fellow bandmates have lined up 28 North American shows spanning this May through mid-September.
First up for the group is a stop in Boone, NC, for a gig at Appalachian State University on May 1. A bunch of East Coast and northern shows are set to follow, including visits to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, and Vermont. Luckily for fans spread throughout the continental US, Mountain Goats have every intention of hitting up each region of the country, and have booked a host of concerts in the Midwest and South throughout June. July and September have been set aside for festival appearances, with the gang rounding out their 2013 tour with a stop at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, RI (from July 26-28), and one at the Atlantic Ocean’s Comedy and Music Festival in Miami, FL (September 13-16). Tickets to a few of the band’s shows are on sale now, but as we’re still weeks away from the TUTTLINGEN WARRIORS TOUR kickoff, be sure to check back here as even more deals continue to crop up!
