Guitarists Nels Cline and Julian Lage are all set to release their duo album, Room, on November 25, and in support, they’re heading out on their first-ever West-Coast tour dates early next year. They’ll start things off in Seattle, WA at the Royal Room on January 13 before moving through Portland, OR (for a show at Mississippi Studios on January 14); Berkeley, CA (at Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse on January 16); Los Angeles, CA (at Largo at the Coronet on January 17); and Phoenix, AZ, at the Musical Instrument Museum for a final show on January 18. Short and sweet. Tickets for the tour are on sale now. For more information about the shows, visit Nels Cline and Julian Lage’s website.
Nels Cline rose to prominence primarily as a jazz performance, often playing tunes with his identical-twin brother, Alex Cline. He was named the 82nd-greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone, and the 43rd-greatest by Spin. Julian Lage not only leads his own group, but also plays with Gary Buron’s New Quartet and Voyager, Eric Harland’s group. A child prodigy, he was the subject of the 1997 document Jules at Eight. He performed at the 2000 Grammy Awards when he was only 13 years old.
