Indie rock gods Neutral Milk Hotel have added even more United States reunion tour dates (and a few European festivals) to their already-busy warm-weather schedule. The band has dates in Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Austin, TX; Boulder, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; Paris, FR; George, WA; Brooklyn, NY; Edinburgh, UK; and many, many more. This is Neutral Milk Hotel’s first touring jaunt since 1998 (15 years, folks), when they released the now-classic In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. The band noted that any of these dates being played on the East Coast (that’s New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.) will be their last “for the foreseeable future,” so if you’re close to the Atlantic you’d better scoop up tickets fast, some of which are on sale now.

Formed by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Jeff Mangum in the late 1980s, Neutral Milk Hotel’s experimental indie sound has been adored by critics and cult fans alike. The band’s best-known album, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, did not meet commercial success at the time of its release in 1998, though since it has gone on to sell over 300,000 copies and remains a staple on “must-have” list for many music industry publications. The group disbanded in 1999 after Mangum suffered a nervous breakdown.
